Saturday - 2 PM

UPDATE - 2 HOURS LATER
MY BETH JUST CALLED
JUST HAD A WRECK
GRANDDAUGHTER SAID SHE WOULD COME
I SAY
NO WAY
HER ARM IN SLING
I AM FINE FOR A FEW DAYS...

It started raining early this morning
but not much melted
Yesterday I called a neighbor, they groom Callie have a big truck and asked them
if they would drive in and back out
so I could see where my drive is.
Hopefully a lot better as the day and night continue -  my Beth is driving up tomorrow to take me to the market.
So good
to receive her call and offer.  I do not want to appear needy and helpless as time goes by
Have to share and ashamed too
I almost lost it yesterday - not seeing anyone for over a week and cannot get out..

I made a new kind of corn bread for lunch - made 1/2 the recipe, make in my grandmother's really old
small iron skillet.  Came out good and enough for me for tomorrow and Monday.
Turned it over - no problem in this well seasoned over 100 year old skillet

Weary of 16 bean soup.   But healthy... Remainder goes in freezer.
Need to make my favorite blueberry cake again - this is the last of it..

Computer problems continue
but at least I can get online even if contually disconnecting.
So much I planned on accomplishing during my shut in
was not done.

That's alright...

Good share E'tine.
Sometimes a very simple request does the trick.
Going to try the cornbread recipe.

I too have an old seasoned skillet or two.

Glad your Beth is coming out and take you to the market.

I suppose your son will be home soon.

Take good care of you.

((hugs))

As Sandra said take good care of yourself. Please don't feel bad about asking for Beth to come help. Sometimes you just have to.

Yes, that's alright. Comforting words. Glad to read that you'll be able to get out tomorrow. Spring will be there soon (even if it won't be soon enough ;-)). Wishing you a good evening and a good night.

We are in the same boat, confined to quarters. I am a bit squirrelly too. I may try going out tomorrow if the ice melts a bit.

I love your cornbread recipe from last time.

Oh I hope your Beth is OK.

And you too, sweet lady.

Hold on Honey!! Spring HAS to come, or at least nice enough weather for you to be able to get out. It was 34 degrees here today and sunny. I went for a walk and filled the bird feeders. It was so nice!!

Yikes - I am sorry to read about Beth! I bet there are things in that freezer of yours that will feed you for a while more, for sure, given the chef we know you to be! :) So sorry about Beth and hope she was not injured at all. We try to keep milk, butter, and 1 loaf of bread in freezer stored among our other frozen food so these are available when the mother nature sends her unexpected little weather pranks. I have a friend who keeps at least one cake in her freezer at all times, too!

I guess this kind of situation is one of the cons of living in the rural community as opposed to living near the city and family. Since extreme weather is not an ongoing condition of the area, I imagine the pros still outweigh the cons of your decision to move there. So when you look outside at the frozen, white landscape remember the beauty of spring and summer which are just around the corner. It won't be long before you will be wearing yourself out again and then having a doctor tell you to slow down if you want relief. (I think mother nature is simply giving you a little more time to rest before you head outside and overwork yourself in the garden!) :)

I think it's good to "know" yourself and to "own" your emotions - not try to pretend you don't have them, etc. Having a plan to address them before they happen sometimes works for me - though sometimes it is easier to just wallow in them for a bit...

Mostly, I tell myself "This too shall pass", and experiences shows me that it is true.

Enjoyed some cornbread last night at a chili cook off at our church last night! Yum.

Thanks to all for commeting and Sky do most of what you suggest.
Freezer always full.
Differance this time is there are 3 I know that are in critical condition and with me snowed in I can do nothing except lift them up in prayer. Also it seems each year - just lately - is different.

Just read this post again. How I missed the part about your granddaughter accident, I have no clue.

I hope she is ok and rapidly recovering!

Thinking of you all and hope Beth et al are recovering quickly, and that you are OK until you can finally get out. It is hard. This has been a tough winter.
Hugs to you....

I hope the 3 in critical condition are not related to the accident beth was in. so sorry to read this. hoping the weather improvements are felt quickly.

You're making yourself delicious meals even though you're cut off in the woods. I've never eaten cornbread, it looks delicious and how wonderful to have your grandma's skillet!
You are fortunate to have such a helpful daughter.

Sorry about your solitary confinement. Surely the situation will resolve itself soon. In the meantime, happy cooking.

That cornbread looks wonderful, but I'm so sorry about your annoying computer problems.
