After The Rain

The stack of books by my old leather chair is growing !!

Rain - most of the day - but I felt like doing nothing. Not my normal routine. I blame it on the rain, tooth surgery and time change that is rapidly approaching.

I am trying to prepare myself for the time change. At this time I am up very early - like 4:30 to 5:00 AM and go to bed and read and pray and meditate at about 7:30 to 8:00. I need to start making some changes so I am not getting up and retiring earlier.

Once I settle into cooler weather and being inside - I love it. A time to rest, read and just be.

I have felt very restless today - does the time change affect anyone else besides this One Woman?

I am feeling restless, too, but I didn't connect it to the time change. I should have thought of that with darkness descending earlier and earlier in the evening. I still have some outdoor painting I want to do, which may have to wait until spring if we don't get some warm sunshine in the next few days.

Now that is a good question? Maybe thats why I have felt so restless for days now. Could not sleep last night got up at midnight and read Ken Follet new book Fall of Giants and then of course that put me sleeping to late this morning so I am off my schedule already. hahaha
Miss coming by here. I have to catch up while I am here

Sharon and Maggie, thank you for visiting. Comforting to know it is just not me with this restlessness :) A better day is expected.

There have been times when I have felt that way...not this fall which is a relief. I usually get that anxiety just before or just after a trip when I have to settle into a new routine.

Hi,
I get a "nesting" feeling every year at this time. I love the seasons and would probably have problems if we moved somewhere where there weren't four seasons. I am ready for it to get dark early now.I love being in the house in the evening and the world outside sort of slows down. As for thinking about getting up at a certain time or going to bed at a certain time...Joe always says, "We are retired, Balisha, we can do as we please." Have a nice day today. Balisha

You are always so wise in your approach. It is an unsettling time as the seasons change. I've been waking and feeling rested about an hour earlier these days. I need to be up by 5 am and am now trying to make myself stay in bed until 6, as I don't want to be waking at 3!!
How wonderful that you have that great stack of books by your chair.

Oh yes. It's hard for me to adjust to the darkness and much needed introspection. Like you, I need time to adjust. Once I do, it is lovely being warm and cozy inside, inside myself.

Tabor, Balisha and Marcia, Some years I do not feel like this. Balisha, no certain time to go to bed and get up - no one here but me. Just seems like that is when I get up and my busy time is in the morning. Evenings I am weary and do not watch television.
Mermaid, thanks for visiting and have a good night :)

Hello... We've not experienced the time change here, yet, but it's coming. I find that by heeding my body's need for sleep (or not) each day... I'm usually adjusted within a week or so. Of course I still have to rise and shine for work...but as long as I listen and heed in the evening, it all works out ok. May you enjoy the gifts of adjustment..

And.. thank you for visiting my blog a while back.. I took the Spring and Summer off ..and now that Fall is here.. I'm snuggled up to my blog again...about once or twice a week: http://gratitude360.blogspot.com/ Blessings and joy to you always...

i usually enjoy the winter rains which encourage my "inside time" usually spent reading, writing, sitting by the fire, napping, etc. this year, interestingly, i am feeling a little reluctant to welcome the winter and say goodbye to summer. perhaps it is because our summer was so cool and fleeting that we never really felt like summer had visited in the usual sense.

this winter i want to be more creative, work on some projects like organizing photographs from many years into albums, cleaning closets and drawers, purging old linens, organizing recipe files into a book, finishing my husband's memory box which i began years ago so he'll have a place to put the cards from me he has always saved. an industrious list which i might not complete, but a place to start!

Sky, your list is somewhat similar to mine. I might add the same list I have for quite a few years.
Cookbook for my children - organize photo's - now I am beginning to return some to my children and on and on. But with moving 3 times over the last years and downscaling each time - my to do list is getting smaller.
Have a wonderful day and as always thank you for visiting :)
Cheryl, thank you for returning.
I think I am beginning to adjust as I stayed in bed longer this morning so do not think I will be arising at 3:30 :)

I do not like the time change. It is dark at 5pm. I like the light so much more. I used to worry about my children's sleep getting messed up (they would wake up an hour earlier).....Now it is the dog!!!! lol
